A Fiesta of Fun as WKRC becomes a chartered club

We have got a very special night lined up at Hoylake Social Club on Wednesday 14th November as we celebrate our 4th birthday and become a Chartered Rotary Club! Our Fiesta of Fun will be an evening of laughter and fun with comedy and bingo following the charter ceremony.

Tickets are available here via Paypal       Buy Now Button       or by calling 07788 651 776. The price has been capped at only £5 each (plus Paypal’s admin fee of 50p) as we would like to celebrate with as many supporters as we can.

Back due to overwhelming demand is our amazing headline comedian, JONATHON MAYOR, who provided us with many unforgettable moments during our comedy evening last year. Hang onto your seats again or beware!

Supporting him will be a number of special guests  from the local scene – Lynsay Owens (Chavair), Harriet Dyer and 4″ Dave (Smile Forecast).

**Please be aware that this is an over 18’s only event with adult comedy content**

A sandwich buffet is included in the ticket price and doors open at 7.00pm for a 7.30pm prompt start.

*Please note that Hoylake Social Club operates a cash-only bar*

*NOTE ON ACCESSIBILITY – Everyone is very welcome but wheelchair users are asked to notify us in advance so that we can make the venue accessible*

Hilbre Walk – 12th May 2018

In association with the Wro Bar Loft in West Kirby

Join the Rotary Club and the Wro for our 4th annual walk to beautiful Hilbre island in the gorgeous spring weather!  We will be meeting in the Wro Loft (i.e. upstairs) at 11.30am for croissants and coffee, then at 12.00 we’ll set off for the stroll over to Little Eye, Middle and then Hilbre itself.  In previous years we’ve seen some wonderful views and wildlife including seals.  On the way back we’ll join the High Tidiers for a litterpick, helping preserve our beautiful environment for everyone to enjoy.  Then to round the afternoon off refreshments will be served in the Wro Loft and we’ll also have a prize raffle.

All proceeds are going to the UTS Foundation, a local charity that seeks to improve the physical health of the vulnerable members of society.

So between the beautiful views, the good work and the brilliant charity, that’s three good reasons to join us for a Hilbre walk! Come along and bring the sunshine with you.

Tickets are £10 for adults and just £5 for children

HEALTH & SAFETY – please prepare for various weather conditions, as those of us who have been before know it can be very cold and windy out there so you may want to wrap up warm, it can also be very sunny and hot so suntan lotion wouldn’t go amiss either, just keep an eye on the day’s forecast; wear appropriate footwear, it can be very slippery so flip-flops are not advisable  … also there is no shop on the island (yes, people have asked us this !) so you will need to bring your own water and snacks.

An Evening With Tony Slattery

Friday 18th May 2018 at Hoylake Social Club

Tony Slattery is an actor and comedian who has starred in films, theatre, musicals and television.  Although he has appeared in serious dramas like The Crying Game and Peter’s Friends, and has had roles in TV series such as Coronation Street and Kingdom, he is probably still most famous for his long-running residency on improvised comedy series Whose Line is it Anyway? , to which he returned at the 2017 Edinburgh Fringe to warm acclaim and sold-out theatres.

Join us for an evening with Tony as he talks openly about his career, from his presidency of the Cambridge Footlights to his present stage production Slattery Night Fever, taking in his battles with substance abuse and mental illness.

The proceeds of the evening will go to Wirral Ways to Recovery, our local drug and alcohol rehabilitation service.

The event takes place at Hoylake Social Club and doors open at 7.30pm for an 8.00pm start.

Tickets are £10 per head plus £1 booking fee.  We recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.  You will not receive a posted ticket but when you book you should receive an email confirming your booking.

When Our Kiddo’s Born

On Friday 12th January 2018, members of the West Kirby Rotary Club are heading out to The Royal Court Theatre in Liverpool to watch their resident troupe of actors star in The Scouse Nativity.

Featuring Liverpudlian actors such as Andrew Schofield (Sharpe’s Mission), Paul Duckworth (Brookside) and Lindzi Germain (Above Suspicion), The Scouse Nativity is an adult pantomime that has garnered rave reviews from theatre critics.

Members can book a place by contacting any member of the WKRC committee before the date of the trip.

Cheese and Wine Evening

We have a delightfully civilised evening planned for Friday 10th November. Shake off the chill of winter and the last of those raucous fireworks with a cheese and wine evening in the Wro Loft in West Kirby!

We’re celebrating the third birthday of the West Kirby Rotary Club and it would be lovely if you could come and join us, have a drink, and help us get through all this cheese.

Doors open at 7.00pm for 7.30. Wine opens shortly afterward.  Tickets cost £20 per head and are available by clicking on the button below.
